La Orica-GreenEdge ha comunicato il ritiro di Brett Lancaster.
Citazione:Veteran Australian cyclist Brett Lancaster has officially announced his retirement from competitive racing today.
The 36-year-old enjoyed a successful 13-year career as a professional road cyclist as well as achieving the ultimate feat on the track – an Olympic gold medal.
Lancaster’s decision comes after four year’s racing with ORICA-GreenEDGE having joined the Australian outfit for its inaugural season in 2012.
“Having the opportunity to join an Australian professional team and finish my career there was definitely a dream come true,” Lancaster said. “Just lining up in the Tour de France in that first year was amazing to be part of, but to be a part of the team time trial win and having Simon Gerrans in yellow in 2013 was incredible.”

Ce lo ricorderemo in Rosa a Reggio. Comunque 6 vittorie in carriera più alcune cronosquadre, tante stagioni positive e ricordiamoci pure le imprese col quartetto australiano: due ori mondiali e uno olimpico con un record del mondo (insieme a Brown, McGee e Roberts)

Sempre importante nel treno. Negli ultim anni poi, quando non c'era Julian Dean, gli han fatto fare pure l'apripista, uscendone davvero bene a parer mio. Non so come mai in Orica lo hanno utilizzato così poco in quel ruolo, preferendogli spesso quel pippone di Howard.
Comunque andrà a fare il direttore sportivo al Team Sky.
